How our knowledge and expertise can help you…

We thought we’d share with you how we can help you explore our fabulous destinations, on your own independent trip, family holiday, or special celebration – or on one of our accompanied tours.

If you wish to travel independently we can provide as much guidance as you desire. Some of our travellers have researched a lot of their trip and turn to us for our local insights –  of tucked away family-run boutique accommodation and off-the-beaten-track sights. We’ve worked with some local families for many years, have first-hand knowledge and experience of homestays and guesthouses (as well as a range of hotels) and can recommend cookery courses with local families, drivers who are keen to share their wealth of local knowledge, and we can advise about the eco-credentials of the accommodation.

Perhaps you’re keen to do a more adventurous family holiday, as your children get older?  In Sri Lanka we can suggest combinations of adventure, culture and beach holidays enabling you to visit the ancient rock fortress of Sigiriya, see wild elephants at Minneriya National Park before relaxing at a boutique beachside resort. Or enjoy a mix of Indian culture and wildlife – there are some fantastic jungle lodges and National Parks to visit! We listen to what you and your family would love to explore, take into account your likes and dislikes and work with you to create unforgettable experiences and a magical holiday.

The Land of the Thunder Dragon – Bhutan – is a truly unspoiled kingdom in the Eastern Himalayas.  If you’re keen to explore further off the beaten track we can advise and help you plan your travel here – which can include staying in a luxurious remote lodge – and advise about wonderful cultural activities enabling you to witness the warmth and friendliness of the Bhutanese people at first hand.

We’re lucky that our destination countries offer so many wonderful honeymoon options; the main problem you’ll face is actually choosing your dream romantic retreat. This is where our in-depth local knowledge can help you find your perfect honeymoon location, from beachside dining to cocktails on your own private roof terrace.

If you wish to add a once-in-a-lifetime experience we can arrange an early morning hot-air balloon ride over the desert of Rajasthan or scuba diving in the Andaman Islands.

If your trip is more work than leisure, we can arrange a bolt-on addition to your trip. So, if business brings you to India, relax at the end of your work trip with a long weekend exploring the wonders of Rajasthan –  stay in one of the many glorious forts and palaces. Or head south to unwind in the backwaters or beaches of Kerala. We can suggest some fantastic ideas and take some of the stress from you by booking your bolt-on trip, leaving you free to make the most of your downtime.

People turn to us as we have the knowledge and flexibility to create an individual programme combining your interests and timescales.

If you are wanting to celebrate a special birthday or anniversary – we know some fantastic places, perfect for celebrations and parties!

If you want to explore family history, we have some great experience of specialist guides and research.

If you want to plan a hiking holiday followed by time at a yoga retreat, we can suggest some wonderful options, including smaller, independent hotels offering a more personalised experience.

Alternatively, if you’re fascinated by the small craft producers, we can arrange visits to local weaving communities, jewellery manufacturers and small initiatives which are creating sustainable employment for local women.  There are amazing textiles and handicrafts to be found in these beautiful destinations.

We work mainly with individuals, families and small groups of family and friends on individual itineraries but – from time to time – we also plan small group accompanied tours, led by Amanda Kay together with specialist accompanying and local guides.  In recent years we have visited northern India and Rajasthan; Sri Lanka and Myanmar and in March 2021 we will be leading a visit to Eastern India and Bhutan. Guests will benefit from our on-hand expertise and we’ll take care of all the logistics leaving you free to enjoy the wonderful cultural experiences.

If you’d like to have a talk about your travel ideas and plans – or you would like to find out more about our accompanied tour in March 2021, please contact Amanda Kay by email:  amanda@travelmaxwellscott.com or telephone 01937 520677.
